#250 · Let a platform show a Support link (SUPPORT_URL)

  • timeline-app
  • pull request

Fixes #249. - **`SUPPORT_URL`** (in `server/site.mjs`) is where visitors can support the platform: GitHub Sponsors, Open Collective, Liberapay or the operator's own page. - When it's set, the header ends with **♥ Support**, in the header's warm accent so it stands out from the navigation, and the footer has **Support this site** after **Help**. When it's empty, the default, neither appears and nothing changes. - The server refuses to start with anything other than an `https://` address. That includes `http:`, `javascript:`, addresses without a scheme, addresses with credentials, and anything over 500 characters. `PLATFORM_NAME` and `GOOGLE_ANALYTICS_ID` work the same way. - It's documented in [administration](docs/administration.md#name-and-analytics), the Debian environment template, `.env.example` and `compose.yml`. Tests: - `test/site.test.mjs` covers the setting's accepted and refused values. - `test/next-platform.mjs` sets it and checks both links in the rendered page. It passes locally against a production build. - `test/next-postgres.mjs` checks that neither link appears when the setting is unset. - `npm test` passes (304).
