How OpenChronology was built

Every merged pull request of openchronology/timeline-app, its first week of commits and its releases; and before them the 2020 PureScript editor, from snapshots of its deleted repositories in the Wayback Machine. Written to this server through the HTTP API.

#377 · Video 25 and Short 28: the history of AI, in a Neural look

**Video 25, a tour of the history of artificial intelligence (3:47), and Short 28, "54 years" (44 s)**, on the timeline at timescale.info/athan/artificial-intelligence. Stacked on #376 (the Marine Corps shorts, whose pipeline changes this uses); retarget to main once that merges. - **Scripts:** `publicity/25-tour-artificial-intelligence.md` and `publicity/shorts/28-54-years.md`, every claim sourced in Appendix B (the artificial neuron, 1943, is older than the transistor, 1947; 69 years from the neuron and 54 from the perceptron to AlexNet in 2012). - **Sample:** `publicity/video/samples/ai.ochx`, an export of the live timeline with Commons pictures (licences checked and credited) on 31 moments, a distinct background per era, four 2025 moments, and the theme in the new look's colours. - **Look:** `neural` in `core.js`: a deep blue-violet ground with a slowly drifting network of nodes and pulses (`networkField`, a pure function of time, seeded), for both 16:9 and shorts. The merge with the Marine Corps branch keeps both new looks; each draws only when its look asks for it. - **Voice:** the default `af_heart`; "AI" read as letters and "separate" (the verb) with three syllables, through the `phonemes` map. - Short 28 is captured at phone scale so the app's labels read on a phone. Rendered MP4s are git-ignored, as before.
