Timeline controls

New here? The tour shows the main controls one at a time.

Freedom Gundam statue at LaLaport Shanghai Jinqiao, photographed by 金琛玮 (Magdum Photo). Illustrative cover for the Gundam franchise.

A single editable Gundam timeline containing 2 continuities, distinguished by tags. The moments, duration bands, sources, contextual stacks and relationships are stored here directly. Contains story spoilers.

Separate the continuities

Open Separate by tags, choose one or more continuity tags below, then select Separate. The chosen continuities appear above and the remaining material below. Rejoin restores the combined timeline. For the clearest fork example, separate alternate uc (gquuuuuux) from universal century (uc) in UC versus GQuuuuuuX. Zoom around UC 0077–0089. Every moment and duration has its continuity’s tag; stacks inherit that same label.

Dates and alignment

The axis displays Universal Century (UC) years. UC is a numbered calendar era: UC 0079 is year 79, not 79 centuries. Both the original continuity and GQuuuuuuX use UC dating, so their conflicting histories can be compared on the same year scale. They remain separate tagged alternatives.

The saved coordinates retain the original UC 0079 anchor; the display adds 79, so stored 0 appears as 79 UC and stored 6 as 85 UC. Event titles retain the conventional four-digit spelling (UC 0079, UC 0085). This is a display conversion, with no change to event dates, durations or relationships. It does not establish a conversion between UC and the real-world Common Era, or between UC and other Gundam calendars.

Calendar references: Bandai’s Gundam history guide dates the One Year War to UC 0079; the official GQuuuuuuX Red Gundam profile dates its Side 6 appearance to UC 0085.

Year-only records do not invent months or days. Undated side-story and sequel context remains in stacks. The former atlas’s real-world release information is preserved in Release … context cards; those dates are not added to this story-year axis as events. Publication-span bands are not treated as fictional durations.

Branches and contradictions

These settings have different native calendars, but the Dark History framework supplies explicit historical connections. The MG Turn X manual names UC, FC, AC, AW, CE, AD and AG. It does not give each setting a precise branching point or a shared year conversion. See the connected-histories comparison and its source notes.

The original UC and GQuuuuuuX records explicitly differ over who takes the Gundam at Side 7. Their tagged moments stay separate. Where both are present here, an unarrowed relationship joins the incompatible accounts for inspection; within-continuity arrows follow selected story chronology. A relationship is not a statement that both versions happened in one world.

The official Reconguista synopsis places RC after UC, while an exact conversion to UC or Correct Century is not fixed here. Turn A’s Dark History framework remains qualified. Dashed interpretation notes preserve that uncertainty rather than inventing a definitive merger date for every setting.

Read the material

Process markers denote selected events; a diamond highlights the alternate UC encounter; stacks retain supporting sources, side stories and release context. Each record’s references travel with it. The story sources are chiefly official synopses; the few secondary calendar references are labelled. The independently drawn marker shapes and colours use no character artwork, anime stills or franchise logos.

The three timelines are major universes, alternate UC, generations and remote futures and UC versus GQuuuuuuX. These are separate editable views of connected histories: editing a shared UC record in one does not automatically edit its copy in another. Selected coverage, not a complete catalogue of every manga, game, Build or SD work.

Moment details

Separate by tags

Events with any chosen tag move into a track above the rest of the timeline. Nothing is changed or saved.

Shift or scale times

Each time becomes (time − around) × scale + around + offset, exactly, as comparisons align timelines. A duration’s start or end that follows a moment moves with that moment.

Your draft becomes a pull request. The upstream timeline stays unchanged until someone with write access merges it.

        Timeline plugins

        Plugin suites

A suite adds several plugins at once. Plugins this timeline already has stay as they are.

        Create a suite

Package this timeline's plugins to add them to other timelines at once. The suite carries each plugin's definition, custom plugins included.

        Plugins

        Plugin editor

Define metadata fields and a restricted render script. No DOM, network, imports, loops or arbitrary calls. Later plugins override earlier effects. Installing takes effect immediately; publishing makes this version public in the server library.

        Plugin library

Popularity counts public timelines with the plugin enabled.

        Compare timelines

Select two to eight timelines visible to your account, or add a JSON file.

        Choose a shared time display

These timelines use different printers or parsers. Choose the display for this comparison. Original times stay unchanged; use scale and offset to align different coordinate conventions.

        Timeline time display

These settings belong to this timeline and are included in saved files and server copies. Times stay exact.

Numeric labels are rounded. SI prefixes work best with unit symbols such as s. A Julian year is exactly 365.25 days.

Displayed value = (stored time − origin) / scale. For Gregorian display, the displayed unit is one second from 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z.

Preview uses the current window span and viewport width. Custom helpers: hasView(), viewLeft(), viewRight(), viewSpan(), viewWidth(), unitsPerPixel(), labelResolution(), purpose(). Existing printers and parsers can ignore this context.

        Servers

The official server is https://timescale.info. You can connect to your own HTTPS servers too, and sign in to several at once: your timelines from each are listed together. Local .och files work without a connection.
