What you can do
Chart events and causal factors. The Causal factor analysis suite stacks contributing factors on a moment, tells kinds of factor apart by shape and color, draws conditions as ellipses and unconfirmed items dashed, and shows cause and effect with arrows.
Attach the evidence. The Sources plugin keeps each moment's source links, and Dating context records how precise each time is.
Line up the clocks. Compare timelines from different sources on one axis, with an offset for each, or use Shift or scale times… to correct a record made against the wrong clock.
Bring in the logs. Import syslog, journald, Apache, nginx and JSON-lines logs at their exact times, next to the analysis.
Review each change. Contributors propose changes as pull requests, and writers merge or reject them, each with its discussion.
What you can count on
The history of every save. Each save to the server is a revision, listed under History, that can be opened and exported.
Exact times. Times are stored exactly, to any fraction of a second, and never rounded.
Private by default. A timeline saved to the server is private until its owner shares it: only the collaborators they add can open it.
On your own machines. Run your own server, or use the desktop app with files on your computer. Private timelines are hidden from other users, but not encrypted from the server's operator.
